Research Interest:
My research interest focuses on the quantitative aspects of positron emission tomography (PET) technology. My current research
work includes both human studies and animal models. For human studies, one goal is to detect and disclose the metabolic dysfunction
after brain injury using imaging processing techniques and multi imaging modalities, such as PET, CT, and MRI. Also, our laboratory
is currently exploring new PET tracers for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease, and developing new imaging processing
techniques to facilitate the detection and quantification of these new tracers to the brain. For animal studies, I am currently studying
the various algorithms to derive the mouse blood activity curve from the dynamic PET images using small animal PET scanner. The
goal is to find and to validate image-based methods that can replace the blood sampling in these small animals. The results of this
work will enable the PET technology to provide quantitative parameters and reliable biological functions that can be translated to the
human study in the future.
