Research Interest:
Tracer Development for Positron Emission Tomography: The primary objectives of the research in the cyclotron section are the development of methods for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for positron emission tomography (PET) research and the investigation of new synthetic techniques for the incorporation of positron emitting radio isotopes into biological probes useful for imaging.

Current investigations focus on the following general aims:

  1. Development of new cyclotron targetry systems for the production of F-18 isotope, including investigation of various parameters that determine the isotope recovery/yield.

  2. Design and synthesis of radiolfluorine labeled biological probes for the investigation of receptor systems and monitoring of gene expression in vivo.

  3. Development of automated chemistry systems for the synthesis of positron emitter labeled radiopharmaceuticals.
