Research Interests
We are interested in the methodology development and applications of quantitative molecular imaging. We develop tracer kinetic models for new compounds as well as various methods to facilitate image quantitation (e.g., movement correction, parametric image generation, image-based input function derivation, partial volume correction, automated ROI procedures). In the application aspect, we collaborate with other laboratories to use quantitative molecular imaging, in preclinical and clinical settings, to study various diseases/disorders, including, coronary artery disease, brain trauma, dementias, and cancers. In kinetic modeling, special emphasis is on the understanding of basic mechanisms related to the uptake, clearance and metabolism of labeled compounds under various conditions. We use mathematical and statistical methods to account for various confounding factors to improve the signal-to-noise ratio in molecular imaging measurements obtained in vivo.
