As a Professor in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, Mr. Ratan Tata advises faculty and students on novel ways to provide their science and technology to the benefit of society and lectures in the Business of Science Center in the Department. Mr. Tata is the Chairman of Tata Sons and also Chairman of the Tata Sons companies of Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels and Tata Teleservices. He is the Chairman of two of the largest philanthropic trusts in India, the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust. He is a member of the Prime Ministers Council on Trade and Industry, as well as the President of the Court of the Indian Institute of Science and of the Council of Management of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. Mr. Tata received a BS degree in architecture from Cornell and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Among the many honors for professional accomplishments and public service from various countries, the Government of India honored Mr. Tata with its second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan.
